Last week I ran a test and commented and liked about 5000+++ times
and I yielded 119 new subscribers for about 10 hours of work
Repeatable.
Duplicatable.
Exciting for the first 25 comments each day.
and I proved organic cold commenting builds your newsletter
I’m getting reports that others are doing it and getting subscribers
BUT it was:Boring after the first 10 minutes/25 comments
Mind-numbing after that.
Totally unsustainable over time
So imagine this instead:
what if, instead of targeting individual posters with mind-numbing commenting . . .
You were to reach out to publications with a similar # of subscribers as yours, and ask if they want to trade guest posts?
Let’s say they have 1000 subscribers and you have 1000 subscribers.
You write a post for them, and you get 50 new subscribers.
They write a post for you, and they get 50 new subscribers.
You now have 1050 subscribers.
They now have 1050 subscribers.
Now you find another match.
10 per month.
1000 to 1500 . . next month to 2250
next month to 3300
next month to 4900 . . .
How much faster would you grow, than JUST commenting on comments to comment?
Food for thought . . .
I am purposely building relationships with real people in Notes.
Some people might call that old-fashioned.
And in the short run, I might lose out on a few “bucks”
But I’ve been full time in this business for 18 years.
I’m not looking for a quick buck.
I’m looking for long - term relationships with people whom I can learn from, and who can learn from me.
Obviously, beneath and behind this is your newsletter writing skill.
But that’s foundational.
The real growth occurs when you connect and build rapport and relationship!
Enjoy and let’s grow together!!!
Also, if you are not a subscriber . . . subscribe here, I’m thinking of sharing a VERY INTERESTING subscriber insight in my next published article:

By the way, if this was helpful to you . . . would you consider sharing this in a note:
These shares make a big difference!
Thanks,
Sean
As you demonstrated, commenting on others is a good strategy. It just takes time to write high quality comments. Thanks for sharing!
It’s a good idea but I don’t find it working at that magnitude (50 out of 1000). Using Notes and Recs is the best way to grow for me currently
