This is the model! It's basically what I'm doing and works well.

Love it! It's basically a version of what I've done for years with my own email list, earlier this year I ramped up the virtual classes, and when I added Substack it's fire!! Seeing you were doing it gave me more confidence to scale some other things back more :-)

Programmatic and purely tactical approach, nothing about how to teach. Which gives me an idea, maybe I should create a course about how to teach. I’ve done it, see it being done badly on line. Thanks for the idea.

Thanks for breaking it all down as a successful example, Sean! The key here is putting the elements well together like a jigsaw puzzle (and thanks to Substack become discoverable!).

yes, you are right that is the key. . . . I try to keep it simple for myself right now, it's literally just the articles, plus notes work, plus one or two weekly live zoom calls, I convert those to courses, and use an order form to sell in the articles

I know that sounds like a lot of steps but once you do them a few times it gets simpler

and it's worth it once people start buying

The key for me is recognising that we have content worth packaging as courses - which don‘t have to be $1-2K masterminds, rather Gunroad style of solving concrete topics.

yes, and a lot of times the small payments add up faster, and don't require long term delivery. If I hold a class and make $500 - $1000, I hold the class, upload the videos . . . and I'm done.

I find this very useful Sean, I'm at the initial stage of posting 3x articles and daily notes. What platform would you use to build courses?

Moon, thanks :-) re: platform for courses

there are so many good ones, but none is truly perfect. So it would depend on what you are optimizing for: simplicity but less features, complexity but Swiss army knife, price, long term never have to move somewhere else, etc

give me an idea of where you are on that spectrum, and I can give you a few choices

Hi Searn, thanks, great options. I'm just starting out on this writing business and my topics surround mindset, growth and also about writing. Was thinking of workshops (either recorded videos or written form), maybe some downloaded worksheets kind of stuff. What do you think?

That's such a simple process when you lay it out like that. - I'm doing most of those actions already, just focusing on building my audience at the moment.
